Boat Description

1977 Westerly Conway 10.9m – "Blue Pei" - A Spacious and Exceptionally Well-Equipped Offshore Cruiser

The Westerly Conway occupies an important place in British yachting history as one of Westerly's first true offshore cruising yachts. Designed by the renowned Laurent Giles and built in the heart of the Solent, the Conway quickly earned a reputation for combining robust construction, comfortable accommodation and reassuring sea-keeping with the practicality for which Westerly became famous.

"Blue Pei" is a fine example of this respected design. Named after her owner's beloved dog, she has clearly been cared for and thoughtfully upgraded over the years. Benefitting from significant recent investment, including new standing and running rigging costing approximately £4,500, a modern heating system, new sprayhood, electric windlass and renewable energy systems, she offers a wonderful opportunity to acquire a capable cruising yacht ready for her next adventure.

Below decks, Blue Pei offers the spacious accommodation that made the Conway such a popular family cruiser. Her generous saloon is complemented by a practical forward heads compartment with shower tray, whilst aft she benefits from a separate cabin complete with wash basin. A large starboard walk-in locker provides excellent storage and easy access to the engine compartment—ideal for extended cruising and routine maintenance.

Power is provided by the dependable Mercedes OM636 diesel engine, the engine originally specified for many Conways and widely respected for its durability and reliability. The current owner has recently had the injectors replaced and serviced, ensuring dependable performance for many seasons to come.

On deck, Blue Pei is equally well prepared. Her new sprayhood and comfortable cockpit seating provide welcome protection in all weathers, whilst the electric windlass makes anchoring considerably easier. Long-term cruising capability is enhanced by a solar panel arch with solar charging, wind generator, mains electrical system and electric freshwater pump.

Her sail wardrobe includes a mainsail approximately five years old, together with a genoa, jib and spinnaker, providing a versatile range of sail combinations for a variety of conditions.
