2005 Cornish Crabbers 24 – Gaff Cutter
A beautifully presented example of the ever-popular Cornish Crabbers 24, this 2005 gaff cutter combines traditional character with dependable modern systems, making her an ideal coastal cruiser for couples or small families. Renowned for their solid build, forgiving handling and timeless looks, the Crabbers 24 is equally at home pottering along the coast or undertaking longer passages in comfort and safety.
Accommodation & Interior
Below decks the accommodation is surprisingly spacious for a vessel of this size, with sleeping for up to three provided by a generous saloon double berth and a single folding berth in the forepeak. The interior enjoys full standing headroom, enhancing comfort during extended stays aboard.
The saloon is finished in teak joinery, complemented by tongue-and-groove bulkheads painted in cream with teak cappings, creating a warm, traditional ambience. Upholstery is finished in Kintyre Antique Gold fabric, adding to the classic feel whilst remaining practical and hard-wearing.
Galley
The galley is well appointed for coastal cruising, featuring a stainless steel two-burner cooker with grill and oven, a sink with hot and cold pressurised water, and both an icebox and portable electric cool box. Practical storage and sensible layout make cooking aboard straightforward and comfortable.
Heads
A separate heads compartment to port offers privacy and convenience, fitted with a Jabsco marine toilet, sink with hot and cold water, and a shower mixer—ideal for weekends away or longer coastal adventures.
Mechanical
Powered by a reliable Yanmar 3YM20S 20hp inboard diesel engine, fresh water cooled, the boat delivers dependable performance under power. A Darglow three-blade feathering propeller ensures excellent manoeuvrability and efficiency, with single-lever Morse controls providing easy handling.
Rig & Deck Equipment
She is rigged as a traditional gaff cutter, complete with wooden spars and a retractable bowsprit, offering classic aesthetics with proven sailing performance. Standing rigging was inspected in 2022, and running rigging renewed in 2023, providing peace of mind for the next owner.
Sail handling is straightforward with twin-line mainsail reefing, Harken roller furling, lazy jacks, and running backstays. All control lines are sensibly led aft to the cockpit via Spinlock XA clutches, enhancing safety and ease of short-handed sailing.
Winches
The cockpit is equipped with four headsail sheet winches, complemented by two halyard winches, providing ample power and control when sailing.
Sails & Canvas
The sail wardrobe includes a tan mainsail, tan staysail with UV strip, jib with UV protection, and a topsail (never set). Canvas work includes a maroon sprayhood and sail cover, plus a new cockpit winter cover fitted in 2024.
Ground Tackle
Ground tackle comprises a CQR anchor with 30 metres of chain and warp, serviced by an SL Anchorman manual anchor windlass—simple, robust, and effective.
Navigation & Electronics
Navigation equipment includes a Raymarine C80 chartplotter, Raymarine RAY54E VHF, ST60+ wind and speed instruments, and a Raymarine ST200 tiller pilot. Navigation lights, compass, and comprehensive instrumentation ensure confidence afloat.
General Equipment
Additional features include diesel warm air heating, cockpit and cabin cushions, radio with cockpit speakers, warps and fenders, boat hook, and traditional clock and barometer.
